About the Steenbok
The steenbok is a small, delicate antelope of southern and eastern Africa. It has a reddish-fawn to orange-brown coat, white underparts, large ears and a distinctive white eye-ring. Males have short, straight horns. Steenbok are usually solitary or found in pairs and are primarily browsers, feeding on leaves, shoots, flowers, fruits and other vegetation. They are well adapted to dry woodland, scrub and grassland and can obtain much of their water from their food.
How to identify the Steenbok
Small, slim antelope with long slender legs, reddish-brown to rufous upperparts and a white belly. Very large ears with dark markings. Males have short, upright horns with slightly curved tips.
