opspoor enables users to share and view wildlife sighting information, including location data and media submitted by members of the community.

The Services do not provide professional advice, safety guarantees, or verified wildlife tracking.

2. Wildlife Safety Disclaimer

Wildlife activity is inherently unpredictable and may involve significant risks to personal safety.

Animals may move rapidly, behave unexpectedly, or pose potential danger to people, vehicles, or property.

By using opspoor, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety, conduct, and decisions when viewing wildlife or traveling to locations based on information obtained through the Services.

3. Accuracy of Information

Much of the information available on opspoor is user-generated and may not be verified.

Sightings may be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, misidentified, or intentionally incorrect.

opspoor does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of any wildlife sighting, location data, or user-submitted content.

4. Predictions, Suggestions and Park Information

Some features of the Services estimate rather than report, including movement predictions, heatmaps, activity patterns, Today’s Outlook, Where to look, trip suggestions, photography forecasts, and AI species identification. These estimates are generated from past sightings, habitat data, weather data, and statistical or machine learning models.

They are not a promise or guarantee that any animal will be present at any place or time, that a suggested route will produce a sighting, or that a species identification is correct. You should rely on your own observation and judgment, and you should confirm species identifications before relying on them.

Park information shown in the Services, including gate times, entrance fees, facilities, and road data, is provided for convenience and may be incomplete or out of date. Always confirm current gate times, fees, rules, and road conditions with the relevant park authority before you travel.

5. Travel and Environmental Risks

Following wildlife sightings may involve travel in remote areas, national parks, reserves, or other natural environments.

These environments may contain hazards including dangerous animals, difficult terrain, weather conditions, road risks, and other environmental dangers.

opspoor does not assume responsibility for travel decisions or risks taken by users when acting upon information obtained through the Services.

6. Wildlife Protection and Responsible Use

opspoor promotes responsible wildlife observation and conservation awareness.

Users must comply with all applicable laws, conservation regulations, park rules, and ethical wildlife viewing practices.

The platform must not be used for poaching, illegal hunting, wildlife harassment, or any activity that may harm animals or their habitats.

7. Third-Party Content and Services

The Services may include user-generated content and may rely on third-party technologies such as mapping services, infrastructure providers, and mobile application stores.

opspoor does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of third-party services or external platforms.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, opspoor disclaims all liability for any injuries, damages, losses, claims, or expenses arising from or related to the use of the Services.

This includes, but is not limited to, damages resulting from wildlife encounters, travel decisions, inaccurate sightings, environmental conditions, or reliance on user-generated information.

9. Map Data & Attribution

Road, route, and facility data shown on opspoor for certain parks and reserves is derived from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, and is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0.

Habitat areas shown for some parks were drafted from open land-cover and elevation data, then reviewed and corrected by hand. Land cover: © ESA WorldCover project 2021, contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2021) processed by the ESA WorldCover consortium, used under CC BY 4.0.
