About the Springbok
The springbok is a graceful antelope of southern and southwestern Africa, recognised by its reddish-brown back, white underparts, dark side stripe and distinctive white rump. It is particularly well adapted to dry environments and can survive for extended periods with limited access to drinking water by obtaining moisture from vegetation. Springbok are primarily grazers but also browse when conditions require it. They are highly social and may form large herds, especially in favourable conditions.
How to identify the Springbok
Slender antelope with a reddish-brown to tan back, white underparts, dark markings on the face and legs, and a distinctive white rump. Both sexes have slender, ringed horns that curve backwards.
