About the Little Egret
The little egret is a small, elegant white heron associated with shallow freshwater and coastal wetlands, rivers, lakes, dams, estuaries and marshes. It has entirely white plumage, a slender black bill, long black legs and yellow feet. It feeds mainly on small fish, frogs, crustaceans, insects and other aquatic prey. It often hunts actively through shallow water, rapidly moving its feet and body while striking at prey with its bill.
