About the Natal Multimammate Mouse
The Natal multimammate mouse is a small, widespread African rodent associated with grassland, savanna, woodland edges, cultivated areas and human-altered environments. It has soft brown to grey-brown upperparts, pale underparts and a relatively long tail. It is primarily nocturnal and feeds on seeds, grains, plant material and other available food, occasionally including insects. It is an important prey species for numerous African predators and can occur at high densities under favourable conditions.
