About the Goliath Heron
The goliath heron is the world's largest heron and is strongly associated with freshwater and coastal wetlands across sub-Saharan Africa. It has a massive dagger-like bill, long legs and a distinctive grey, chestnut and black plumage pattern. It is primarily a solitary hunter, usually standing motionless in shallow water before striking fish and other aquatic prey with its powerful bill.
