About the Wahlbergs Eagle

Wahlberg's eagle is a medium-sized African raptor associated mainly with woodland and savanna habitats. It has broad wings, a relatively small head and variable plumage ranging from dark brown to pale forms. The species feeds on a variety of prey including reptiles, small mammals, birds and insects, usually hunting from a perch or while flying low over suitable habitat. It is a seasonal migrant in many parts of its range and is particularly associated with the African summer rainfall period.

How to identify the Wahlbergs Eagle

Medium-sized eagle with broad wings and a long tail. Adults are highly variable in colour but commonly show a dark brown head and back with a pale or rufous breast and underparts. Juveniles are generally browner and more heavily streaked.
