About the Tawny Eagle
The tawny eagle is a large African raptor of open savanna, grassland and semi-arid habitats. Its plumage varies from pale sandy-brown to darker brown, making individual birds highly variable in appearance. It is an opportunistic predator and scavenger, feeding on small mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and carrion. Tawny eagles often soar for long periods while searching for prey and may also take advantage of food remains left by larger predators.
How to identify the Tawny Eagle
