About the Speckled Padloper
The speckled padloper is one of the smallest tortoises in the world and is native to a restricted area of southern Africa. It has a very small, flattened shell covered with distinctive dark speckles and a mottled brown and yellow appearance that provides excellent camouflage among rocks and dry vegetation. It is primarily herbivorous, feeding on small plants, grasses, flowers and other vegetation. It is generally solitary and is strongly associated with rocky habitats where it can shelter in crevices.

Tiny tortoise with a flattened, strongly patterned shell covered in small dark spots or radiating markings. The shell is usually yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, with a small head and relatively slender limbs.
