About the Southern Black Flycatcher
The southern black flycatcher is a small insect-eating bird of southern Africa, commonly found in woodland, savanna, gardens and other habitats with suitable trees and shrubs. It has predominantly dark grey to black plumage, with females and some individuals appearing slightly browner. It usually hunts from an exposed perch, flying out to catch insects in the air before returning to the same or a nearby perch. It is generally solitary or found in pairs and is often detected by its sharp calls and active flycatching behaviour.
