About the Lesser Spotted Eagle

The lesser spotted eagle is a medium-sized migratory raptor that breeds across parts of Europe and Asia and spends the non-breeding season in Africa. It has predominantly brown plumage, broad wings and a relatively short tail, with considerable variation between individuals. In Africa it is mainly associated with open woodland, grassland and savanna and feeds opportunistically on small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects and carrion. It is a strong soaring bird and may travel thousands of kilometres during migration.
