About the Hooded Vulture
The hooded vulture is a small African vulture with a relatively slender build, narrow wings and a distinctive bare pinkish head and neck surrounded by a dark hood of feathers. It is primarily a scavenger and feeds on carrion, scraps and remains that larger vultures may overlook. It is strongly associated with open woodland, savanna and areas influenced by human activity. Hooded vultures often gather around carcasses and may also feed on insects and other small food sources.
How to identify the Hooded Vulture
