A small nocturnal rodent adapted to dry and semi-arid environments across southern Africa. The Hairy-footed Gerbil has furry soles that help protect its feet from hot sand and loose substrates. It feeds mainly on seeds, vegetation, and insects and spends much of the day sheltered in burrows, becoming active after dark.
