About the Cape Grysbok
A small, secretive antelope endemic to the southwestern Cape of South Africa. The Cape Grysbok has a reddish-brown to grey-brown coat, distinctive white markings around the eyes and mouth, and large ears. It prefers dense fynbos, scrub, and thicket where it can remain concealed. Usually solitary, it feeds mainly on leaves, shoots, flowers, and other vegetation.
How to identify the Cape Grysbok
Small, stocky antelope with a reddish-brown to grey-brown coat, coarse hair, large ears, a short tail, and a distinctive hunched appearance. Males have short, ridged horns that curve slightly backwards. Usually secretive and found in dense vegetation.
