About the Cape Fox
A small, slender fox endemic to southern Africa, occurring mainly in open grassland, savanna and semi-arid regions. The Cape Fox is largely nocturnal and solitary, feeding on rodents, insects, small birds, reptiles and other small animals. It is recognised by its grey coat, reddish sides and legs, large ears, and distinctive dark or black tail tip.
How to identify the Cape Fox
A small, slender fox with large pointed ears, a narrow face, long legs, and a distinctive bushy tail with a dark tip. Its coat is typically greyish to yellowish-brown, with paler underparts.
