About the Brown Snake Eagle
The brown snake eagle is a large African raptor primarily associated with savanna, woodland and open country. It has predominantly dark brown plumage, a relatively small head and broad wings, with a paler underside that can show fine barring. It specialises in hunting snakes and other reptiles but also takes small mammals, birds, frogs and insects. It often hunts from an elevated perch or while soaring over open terrain.
