About the Brown House Snake
The brown house snake is a slender, non-venomous snake widely distributed across southern Africa. It is commonly associated with human settlements as well as savanna, grassland, woodland and rocky habitats. Its coloration is usually brown with darker markings, providing effective camouflage. It is primarily nocturnal and feeds mainly on rodents, lizards, frogs and other small vertebrates. It is harmless to humans and is useful around homes and farms because it helps control rodent populations.
How to identify the Brown House Snake
