About the African Fish Eagle
The African fish eagle is one of Africa's most recognisable raptors, strongly associated with rivers, lakes, dams and other large bodies of water. Adults have a distinctive white head and breast, dark brown body and wings, and a powerful yellow bill and feet. Fish form a major part of its diet, although it also takes birds, reptiles, amphibians and carrion. It hunts mainly from exposed perches near water, swooping down to seize prey with its powerful talons.
