About the Swainsons Spurfowl
Swainson's spurfowl is a medium-sized ground-dwelling gamebird of southern Africa, particularly associated with dry savanna, grassland, scrub and woodland. It has cryptic brown and grey plumage that provides excellent camouflage, while the male has a prominent spur on the leg. It feeds mainly on seeds, grasses, roots and other plant material, supplemented by insects and other invertebrates.
