When to see Sharpes Grysbok in Kruger National Park
Sharpes Grysbok are most active at night (19:00 to 05:00). Much of their activity falls outside gate hours, so the first drive after the gates open and the last hour before they close give you the best chance.
This is Sharpes Grysbok's general behavior. Once enough sightings are logged in Kruger National Park, this page also shows when they're actually seen here.
About the Sharpes Grysbok
A tiny, stocky antelope of the northeastern bushveld with a reddish-brown coat streaked with white and shaggy fur over the hindquarters. Primarily nocturnal and extremely shy, it browses alone in dense cover and freezes or crouches low before bolting when disturbed. Only males carry short, widely spaced horns.
How to identify the Sharpes Grysbok
Small, stocky build with shaggy hindquarters; reddish-brown coat streaked with white, off-white eye-rings, muzzle, throat and underside; may lack false hooves (dew claws), unlike Cape Grysbok which usually has them; crouches low to the ground when flushed rather than bounding away.
