When to see Selous Mongoose in Kruger National Park
Selous Mongoose are most active at night (19:00 to 05:00). Much of their activity falls outside gate hours, so the first drive after the gates open and the last hour before they close give you the best chance.

About the Selous Mongoose
Selous's mongoose is a small, secretive carnivore of southern and eastern Africa, particularly associated with dry woodland, savanna and areas with dense ground cover. It has a relatively long body, short legs and a greyish to brown coat, often with a bushy tail. It is mainly insectivorous, feeding on termites, ants, beetles and other invertebrates, but may also take small vertebrates. It is generally solitary or found in small family groups and spends much of its time foraging close to cover.
How to identify the Selous Mongoose
Medium-sized mongoose with a slender body, short legs, pointed muzzle and bushy tail. Usually greyish-brown to reddish-brown above with a paler underside and relatively uniform colouring.
