About the Selous Mongoose
Selous's mongoose is a small, secretive carnivore of southern and eastern Africa, particularly associated with dry woodland, savanna and areas with dense ground cover. It has a relatively long body, short legs and a greyish to brown coat, often with a bushy tail. It is mainly insectivorous, feeding on termites, ants, beetles and other invertebrates, but may also take small vertebrates. It is generally solitary or found in small family groups and spends much of its time foraging close to cover.
