About the Sable Antelope
The sable antelope is a large and striking African antelope recognised by its dark coat, white facial markings, upright mane and long, strongly curved horns in both sexes. It inhabits woodland and savanna, particularly areas with sufficient grass and access to water. Sable antelope are primarily grazers, feeding mainly on grasses but also browsing when necessary. They are social animals that live in herds, while adult males may become territorial and defend access to females and resources.
