About the Roan Antelope
The roan antelope is a large and striking African antelope recognised by its reddish-brown to grey coat, black-and-white facial markings, dark mane and long, backward-curving horns in both sexes. It is primarily a grazer and favours open woodland, savanna and grassland with good access to grazing and water. Roan are social and usually live in herds, often consisting of females and young accompanied by a dominant male. They can form larger temporary groups where conditions are favourable.
