Roodewal Water lies beside the S39 Timbavati Road, where a striking red dolerite ridge rises above a shaded waterhole. The rocky ridge forms a natural divide between the mopaneveld to the east and mixed acacia woodland to the west, creating an interesting transition in both scenery and habitat. Tall trees around the water also attract raptors such as African Fish-Eagle and African Hawk-Eagle.
