About the Dark Chanting Goshawk
The dark chanting goshawk is a medium-sized African raptor of open woodland, savanna and grassland. It has predominantly dark grey plumage, long legs and a relatively long tail, and is often seen perched conspicuously on trees, poles or other elevated positions. It hunts mainly from perches, taking small mammals, birds, reptiles and insects, and may also consume carrion. It is known for its distinctive vocalisations and is generally encountered singly or in pairs.
