About the Crested Francolin
The crested francolin is a ground-dwelling gamebird of sub-Saharan Africa, commonly found in savanna, woodland, scrub and agricultural areas. It has intricately patterned brown and grey plumage, a distinctive crest and a strong, upright posture. It spends much of its time foraging on the ground, feeding on seeds, grains, shoots, fruits and insects. It is usually encountered in pairs or small family groups and is more often heard calling than seen clearly.
