About the African Barred Owlet
The African barred owlet is a small owl of sub-Saharan Africa, primarily associated with woodland, forest edges and areas of dense vegetation. Its plumage is predominantly brown and barred, providing excellent camouflage against tree bark and foliage. It is mainly nocturnal but may occasionally become active around dawn and dusk. It feeds on insects, small reptiles, frogs, rodents and small birds, usually hunting from a perch before making a short attack.
