About the Southern Yellow billed Hornbill
The southern yellow-billed hornbill is a medium-sized hornbill of southern Africa, commonly found in dry woodland, thornveld and savanna. It has a large yellow bill with a distinctive red or orange patch near the base, grey-brown plumage and contrasting black-and-white wing markings. It spends considerable time foraging on the ground, feeding on insects, small reptiles, amphibians, seeds and fruit. It is usually seen in pairs or small groups and often moves between trees and open ground while feeding.
