About the Hadeda Ibis
The hadeda ibis is a large, noisy African ibis recognised by its grey-brown plumage, glossy green and purple wing feathers, long legs and long curved bill. It is highly adaptable and occurs in grassland, wetlands, woodland, gardens and urban areas. It feeds mainly by probing soft ground with its bill for earthworms, insects and other invertebrates, but also takes other small prey. Hadeda ibises are often seen in pairs or groups and are famous for their loud, far-carrying calls.
