About the Black chested Snake Eagle
The black-chested snake eagle is a medium-sized raptor of sub-Saharan Africa, particularly associated with open woodland, savanna and grassland. It has a distinctive dark brown to black chest contrasting with a pale throat and head, while the underside of the wings and body is largely pale with dark markings. It specialises in hunting snakes and other reptiles but will also take small mammals, birds and amphibians. It commonly hunts from exposed perches and can spend long periods scanning the ground.
