About the Olive House Snake
The olive house snake is a slender, non-venomous snake of eastern and southern Africa. It is generally olive, brown or greyish in colour and has a smooth, relatively glossy appearance. It is mainly nocturnal and occurs in woodland, savanna, rocky areas and around human habitation where suitable prey is available. It feeds primarily on small mammals, lizards, frogs and other small vertebrates. It is harmless to humans and is an effective predator of rodents.
How to identify the Olive House Snake
