About the Pink backed Pelican
The pink-backed pelican is a large waterbird of sub-Saharan Africa, associated mainly with freshwater lakes, rivers, wetlands and coastal waters. It has predominantly pale greyish-white plumage, a pinkish back and a large bill with an expandable throat pouch. It feeds mainly on fish, which it catches using its bill and pouch, but may also take amphibians and other aquatic prey. It is a social species and may gather in groups when feeding, roosting or nesting.
